Uniport Bleeds and Aluu cries

Several stories as to why the four young men who were students of the University of Porthacourt were mobbed to death in the community of Aluu recently have begun to crop up. It is said that they were cultist, robbers, rapist and also angry youth who went to collect the money owed to them by someone else. Well, the deceased can't speak, can they? Therefore we may never know the truth about what really happened.
People who live in that community complain daily of robbery so stealing is no new story when it comes to them.

Regardless of what may have transpired, it doesn't give anyone the right to act as babarically as the indigenes of Aluu did. Besides, where was the police when this was happening? This tragedy only brings to light many areas in which we are lagging in this great country of ours. It is sad to note that the average man on the streets these days has his mind even more darkened than a hardened terrorist.

No matter how much we fight it, it is clear that violence begets violence. Now the students of the University of Porthacourt have gone rogue, embarking on a movement they have tagged 'Revenge'. Now tell me, what makes you any different? Like people have rightly said 'two wrongs don't make a right'.
I did not write this article to answer all the questions emanating from your bleeding heart because I do not have all the answers myself but I wrote this to point out two things and that is the darkness of the illiterate Nigerian mind and the irresponsibility of the educated Nigerian student. There is pandemonium everywhere, how can we live like this? I wish I had all the answers or knew the best way to approach this incident, I would have told you.

The University of Porthacourt following recent matters arising has been closed indefinitely and information reaching us is that the community of Aluu has become a ghost town as the inhabitants have fled for their lives. Now all we can do is hope that the light of justice, remorse and peace shines into that city and also that this goes out as a lesson to all those who still believe in jungle justice.
My heart bleeds, my soul cries, my body quakes but my spirit prays; prays for porthacourt, prays for Nigeria.

TEENAGER WHO SOLD HIS KIDNEY ONLY TO PURCHASE AN IPAD NOW HAS RENAL FAILURE

The teenager in southern China who reportedly sold a kidney so he could afford an Apple iPhone and iPad has developed some complications as a result of that ‘adventure’. The teen, identified only as Wang, is from Anhui, one of the country’s poorest provinces, and is now suffering from renal deficiency or kidney failure.

Five people who had a hand in the 17-year-old’s surgery are charged with intentional injury, the government-run Xinhua News Agency said on Friday.

After a surgeon removed the kidney last April, Wang bought the iPhone and iPad, and returned home to his mother. When she asked him where he’d gotten the money to make the purchases, he admitted to selling a kidney.

In China, Apple products are incredibly popular, but more expensive than they are in the U.S. The price of iPhones starts at 3,988 yuan ($633) and iPads start at 2,988 yuan ($474), according to Reuters.

One of the defendants was paid 220,000 yuan (about $35,000) to arrange the transplant. He gave Wang 22,000 yuan (about $3,500) for the organ, and split the rest with the surgeon, medical staff and three other defendants, Xinhua reports.

GOOGLE EXPOSES PROJECT GLASS: YOU CAN TAKE PICTURES, CONTROL MUSIC AND EVEN VIDEO CHAT WITH IT

Google has come public with its plans to offer augmented-reality glasses, which it’s calling “Project Glass.”

Unveiling the project should make it easier for Google to test the weird-looking glasses in public. As currently designed, they have a horizontal frame that rests on a wearer’s nose, with a wider strip of computer and a little clear display on the right side. So they’re not really “glasses” in the traditional sense at all.
